Lucy Farnsworth, an astute businesswoman, dressed in the high Victorian style of her day. After the death of her father, William, she led her family’s businesses to prosper. At the time of her passing in 1935, she left her family fortune of over one million dollars in trust to create the Farnsworth Art Museum, in Rockland, Maine.
